This Week's Update

  • Dear Friends,

This Shabbat - 9 Sivan, 5784 • June 15, 2024 we read the portion of Naso, which describes the special duties of the tribe of Levi, guarding and transporting the holy items of the Holy Temple. This portion also contains the Priestly Blessing, which they were commanded by G-d to bestow on the Jewish people.

This Shabbat comes just two days after the Shavuot holiday. According to the Zohar, this Shabbat elevates the previous days to a higher state of holiness, including the days of Shavuot.

This Shabbat we will be celebrating together after service with a delicious Kiddush, sponsored by the Community Kiddush Fund, which is made possible by the generosity of our donors.

The name of this weeks Torah portion is Naso, which means to lift the people. Literally, it says lift their heads. The inner meaning is, Moshe was to lift the people spiritually and intellectually by appealing to their minds. Once a person's mind is filled with Torah, the feelings and deeds follow.

    Shabbat Shalom
