This Shabbat, 8 Tishrei, September 23, 2023, is a special Shabbat of the New Year 5784. It is Shabat Suvah, the Shabbat of return, as it comes within the first Ten days of the new year, which are known as the days of repentance and return.
On this Shabbat we read the 10th portion of the Book of Devarim, the portion of Ha'azinu. With this portion, Moshe introduces a Divine song of a lifetime. This song which appears as twin columns in the Torah scroll, puts forth the entire journey of the Jewish people till the coming of Mashaich. It is a part of the written Torah that Moshe encouraged us to learn by heart to keep our spirits up even in the darkest times.
This Shabbat is before Yom Kippur and Sukkot which are considered by the Midrash as holy days as the Jews are clean and pure.
This Shabbat is powerful Shabbat as we have the ability to elevate and correct all of our previous Shabbats, as G-d endows this Shabbat with special energy that helps elevate us to greater spiritual heights.
On this special Shabbat, we celebrate with prayer and the Shabbat meal and express our hope for a brighter future where we will see a world with peace, harmony and tranquility. May this Shabbat bring us G-d's blessing for a healthy and joyous New Year filled with health, wealth and unity.
